Alicante-Elche airport will close its doors to commercial traffic

Alicante-Elche airport will close its doors to commercial traffic today - The facilities will continue to operate for emergencies and special flights,  British Airways are continuing to run emergency flights to the UK.

The airport does not close but from Tuesday operations will be limited to cargo planes, ambulances, emergencies and some passengers with special authorization, such as the one that is scheduled at 10 am to Kiev (Ukraine).

Thousands of passengers use the terminal every day, and while recovering from the damage caused by the Fire in January now faces the brutal recession of the coronavirus that forces  "quarantine" at a time when in normal conditions it would be about to enter the high season with 300 daily flights. Today there were ten.

Due to the Covid-19 health crisis, travel is not allowed except for reasons that cannot be postponed. If this is your case, remember to check with the airlines before flying and follow these measures at the airport:
Keep the safe distance (+ 1m) with anyone.

Do not go to the airport more than 90 minutes before your flight. Avoid crowds.

Classic companies at the Alicante-Elche airport such as Jet2.com, Ryanair, Easyet or Norwegian, have all stopped flying.  Jet2.com, have announced that it will resume operations in May, the remainder have still to reveal their intentions.
