The investigation began at the beginning of July, when the agents gathered information about a serious brawl between two groups on a well-known street in Benidorm.
The brawl ended with a shootout in which three people were wounded by bullets, two of Maghrebi origin (Northwest Africa or Northern Africa) and a third who was a tourist of Irish origin. All of them had to be assisted at Villajoyosa Hospital, resulting in the most serious wounded man receiving two shots in his body.
After conducting continuous investigations, the agents checked the sequence of events, identifying the person who wielded the firearm and fired several shots at the members of the opposing group and allegedly responsible for the organisation, dedicated to the extortion and adjustment of accounts.
After months of investigation, the agents determined that the alleged perpetrator could have returned to Spain, specifically to Alicante .
As a result of the efforts made, the agents located this person in Alicante, being very significant his physical appearance change or the high security measures he adopted to avoid being discovered, even changing up to the colour of his car.
On November 14, the agents established a police device that culminated in his arrest, allegedly accused of committing a crime of attempted homicide and belonging to a criminal organisation. At the time of his arrest, the alleged perpetrator carried between his belongings 4,600 euros in cash.
The detainee, of Serbian nationality and 42 years old, was placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction Tres de Benidorm, who decreed his immediate entry into prison.
The operation has been carried out by agents of the UDYCO of the Provincial Brigade of Judicial Police of Alicante and by agents of the Brigade of Judicial Police of Benidorm.
