Learn some Basic Spanish - You will be surprised at how much Spanish you already know.... here is a guide to learning some basic Spanish.

Words that end in "ma" are usually masculine. Words that end in "dad" tend to be Feminine.

Many English words that end in "ity" translate to Spanish by changing the "ity" to "idad" eg Electricity becomes Electricidad

Many English words that end in "tion" translate to Spanish by changing the "tion" to "ción" eg instruction becomes instrución

Many English verbs that end in "ate" translate to Spanish by changing the "ate" to "ar" eg to participate becomes participar

Many English words that end in "ous" translate to Spanish by changing the "ous" to "oso" eg Curious becomes Curioso

Words that end in "al" are usually the same in Spanish eg Hospital

Many English words that end in "ic" translate to Spanish by changing the "ic" to "ico" or "ica" eg Magic becomes Mágico

Many English words that end in "ct" translate to Spanish by changing the "ct" to "cto" eg Exact becomes Exacto

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A GUIDELINE AND THERE ARE MANY EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE. FOR EXAMPLE IN THE LAST ONE I ADDED AN A "AMENTO" NOT JUST "MENTO". BUT THE GENERAL RULES WILL PUT YOU ON THE RIGHT TRACK. ALSO BEWARE OF FALSE FRIENDS. EG ACTUALMENTE DOES NOT MEAN ACTUALLY IT MEANS CURRENTLY.
