Words that end in "ma" are usually masculine. Words that end in "dad" tend to be Feminine.

Many English words that end in "ity" translate to Spanish by changing the "ity" to "idad" eg Electricity becomes Electricidad

Many English words that end in "tion" translate to Spanish by changing the "tion" to "ción" eg instruction becomes instrución

Many English verbs that end in "ate" translate to Spanish by changing the "ate" to "ar" eg to participate becomes participar

Many English words that end in "ous" translate to Spanish by changing the "ous" to "oso" eg Curious becomes Curioso

Words that end in "al" are usually the same in Spanish eg Hospital
