Derek commented on this post about 1 month agoWith the discusion of covers going on, I thought I would start a new thread on Covers. I know it's impossible to think of a top ten as such, but suggest 10 covers you would recomend as contenders to beat the original. Here's mine.
Nutz - One more cup of coffee (Dylan cover)
Joe Cocker - Bye Bye Blackbird
Alex Escribano benidorm - I wlll always love you (One of our own here in Benidorm. I'll add the link in comments)
Bryan Ferry - These Foolish Things
The Bobcats - I'm on Fire (Rockabilly cover of Springsteen)
John Farnham - Help (Beatles cover)
Bagatelle - Jersey Girl (Tom Waits cover)
Heart with Jason Bonham - Stairway to Heaven (Led Zepplin cover)
Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel - Here comes the sun (Beatles cover)
Joe Cocker - With a little help from my friends (Arguably the best cover of all time. Certianly one of the best known)

If I'm not mistaken the Judas Priest drummer for the Green Manalishi recording was the late Les Binks. A drummer from my home town. I had the pleasure of working with Les once. On a visit home one Christmas he stood in when our drummer was ill to help us out. Fabulous Drummer, but way to agresssive for the type of band we where, covering the Christmas tunes for the local workers parties. The double bass drum was not really needed for "Merry Christmas Everyone". A nice guy with no big ego considering the other acts he had played with. More ...
What a great experience to have Les dep for your band. You cant beat aDerek as a cover Whisky is fair play to anyone who wants to give it go.
What a great experience to have Les dep for your band. You cant beat a double bass drum and a metal drummer for Christmas songs gives the things a life it never knew it needed lol.
Great musicians dont have egos well the bass and drums dont we just stay in the background making everyone else sound good 😂😂 (well sometimes) then when we do step forward usually all hell breaks loose.
Think of me as the Ox mixed with Lemmy but missing my 'Plithy' Phil Taylor at the minute.
