Keep Benidorm Clean. More than 120 kilos of rubbish removed from the sea

The Mundomar Foundation, in collaboration with the Department of the Environment of Benidorm and Nisos Diving Club, has carried out its Ist cleaning of Seabed in the Rincon de Loix and surrounding area.

More than 120 kilos of waste from the sea floor was removed: 15 kilos of glass, 12 of plastics, 25 of iron and rubble and another 70 of other types of rubbish.

The objective of this action, held last Saturday, was not only to clean up this area, but also to raise awareness of the seriousness of leaving rubbish behind. About twenty professional divers covered the deeper areas whilst other volunteers dressed with snorkeling equipment, dealt with the shallow water.

There was also an action point located on the beach itself  where a tent was installed where games and activities were carried out for the little ones all oriented towards helping with environmental awareness.

This first cleaning of seabed is part of the action plan developed by the Mundomar Foundation outside the borders of the nature park itself.

If you enjoy Benidorm´s Beaches please respect them, by placing your rubbish in the bins provided. Benidorm is proud of its Blue Flag Beaches.
