l’Aigüera Park becomes an obstacle course
Work is being done to replace the original tiles – which are cracked, dirty or broken – with new identical tiles ones. The old ones were placed 30 years ago, when the park of l’Aigüera was inaugurated, but its not perfect timing with Benidorm Pride taking place next weekend and many of the events take place in this area.
Work is ongoing daily and there are metal fences, stacked tiles and other work materials scattered everywhere. The Department of Public Space explain via a press release, that these works are being carried out by a group of employees in training and will last several months.

Did you know?
Originally this area was a ravine, with the same name as the park: ravine de l’Aigüera and collected both storm water and water from surrounding sources. In the 80s, it was decided to urbanize the channel as it passed through the city to make it into a natural and leisure space.
The park was designed by Ricardo Bofill’s architecture studio.
It contains two auditoriums, Julio Iglesias and Óscar Esplá, which hold many outdoor events.
The park has various green areas and playgrounds making it a place for all the family to enjoy.
Hundreds of people pass through the park daily to go to the Levante beach, located just a few meters away, or simply enjoy this green area.
