Local News – New Museum planned for Benidorm

The museum will be called the  “Aula del Mar” and will show the history of the merchant sailors who left Benidorm to dive into the sea, and show details about what fishing was like using the trap method.  The museum will also serve as an informative space about the local marine environment.

The Aula del Mar is planned to have a total area of 200 square meters distributed in a central hall, an exhibition hall, conferences and service facilities and an outdoor garden of about 600 square meters in which the blue color of the sea will predominate and where activities can be held.

This project, has already been printed on paper and has passed the first “filters” of the Delegation of Coasts and will be located on the site left by the old villa of Martínez Alejos, located on the front line, in the middle of Paseo de Levante (Levante Beach)

The project is included in the investments approved in the 2020 budget, but is subject to a Costs concession. This will allow the City Council to occupy about 1,500 square meters of maritime-land public domain with which the plot has for 15 years, extendable for a further 15. Costas have given the City Council 12 months to begin the works and another twelve to complete them, as long as the deadlines are met they will not have to pay any fee as long as the facilities are managed correctly.
