Roof Collapse at Benidorm Hotel - 7 injured

Roof Collapse at Benidorm Hotel Leaves Seven with Minor Injuries — Seven people suffered minor injuries on Sunday 5th April 2026, after part of the roof collapsed at the Poseidon Centro Hotel, prompting a large emergency response and causing concern among guests and staff.

The incident occurred at approximately 14:20, when the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre (CICU) received a call reporting a partial roof collapse, plasterboard panels and air conditioning ducts came crashing down into the restaurant area of the hotel.

According to emergency services, several medical units were immediately dispatched to the scene, including an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance, a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance, and a Non-Emergency Transport (NET) ambulance. Red Cross personnel also attended to assist those affected, alongside firefighters from the Benidorm fire station and officers from the local police.

Emergency crews quickly secured the area where the collapse occurred and assessed guests and staff who were nearby at the time. Fortunately, authorities confirmed that all injuries were minor.

Seven Injured, Five Taken to Hospital

A total of seven people were treated for minor injuries following the incident — five men and two women. Among those affected were an 8-year-old child and a 78-year-old man, both of whom were treated at the scene by paramedics and did not require hospitalisation.

The remaining five injured individuals, aged between 33 and 80, were taken to medical centres for further evaluation and observation. Specifically, they were transported to the Benidorm Clinic and the Marina Baixa Hospital.

Cause of Collapse Under Investigation

At this time, the cause of the roof collapse remains under investigation. Authorities have stated that there were no fatalities and no reports of serious structural damage to the rest of the building, although technical inspections will be carried out to ensure the safety of the facilities.

The incident caused a significant emergency response presence in the area during the afternoon, but the situation was quickly brought under control. Hotel operations are expected to continue normally once safety checks are completed.

Local authorities have reassured the public that the injuries were minor and that all affected individuals are in stable condition.
