The operation took place on both Levante and Poniente beaches, and began yesterday at mid-day (30th May), more than 25 agents were involved. The main objective was the prevention of robberies and thefts committed on the beaches and to control the illegal beach sellers who offer services such as massages or sale of products which are illegal and unregulated. During this operation, more than 15 people were identified seven of which were of Chinese nationality, aged between 38 and 56, they been arrested and charged with infringing the Immigration Law and for residing in Spain in a irregular manner.
The detainees, two men and five women, were identified when they allegedly offered their masseur services to tourists who were on the beach. Thea aim is to control and eradicate the practice of massages offered by people without proper accreditation and preparation, which can sometimes cause very serious health problems to the people who receive them, especially those with ongoing medical conditions.
The detainees have been transferred to the National Police Station where they have been issued the corresponding Administrative Sanctioning Files. Once the aforementioned Expulsion File has been notified, they will be released pending the decision of the Sub-delegation of the Government of Alicante.
