We stayed here from 29th December for 10 nights. Whilst the apartments are fitted out as self-catering, it is possible to book a variety of board options whereby you eat in the Avenida Hotel which is directly across the way from the apartments. You can even (except for certain days) pay on the day for these additional meals.
The location of the apartments is very good, in the centre of the Old Town, just a very short walk to the beach and all that the Old Town offers.
They are situated in a pedestrian area, so are not accessible by car/bus, so there is a walk to/from where the bus or taxis can drop you off. The distance can vary, so be mindful when considering.
The apartments are accessed at the front by several steps, so those with mobility issues, may again wish to consider this. There is a rear access corridor which is sign posted as being for the access route for prams/wheelchairs, but this may not be available 24 hours a day as it appears to lead to some shops.
Some rooms face to the street, so expect noise from the bars/shops etc and currently there is noise from the rebuilding of neighboring apartments. The other rooms are interior facing, so may face the windows of other apartment blocks, plain walls and again may be subject to noise.
There is one lift. Access to most of the apartments is from an open atrium which is rather like the wing of a prison. As it is so open, everything echoes around, so if you slam a door on the 1st Floor, you can hear it everywhere.
The windows to some of the bedrooms face onto the landings, so you can hear everything that goes on, including the maids chatting and calling to each other, along with guests walking to/from the other rooms.
The apartments are not so old but are very tired and need upgrading. The doors to the apartments are large and heavy and need to pulled shut, so the trend is for them to be slammed, which echoes around and around the atrium.
The walls between the apartments are so thin it is possible to hear everything that is said in the adjacent apartment.
The bathrooms in the one-bedroom apartments are small and have a sliding door. This makes an awful lot of noise when used. There are no safety rails, so getting in/out of the bath to shower is quite tricky.
There was a constant smell of drains. If you closed the bathroom window it got worse. The bathroom window had to be closed at night to try an lessen the noise from outside, however as the sliding door made so much noise when used, privacy in the bathroom during the night was an issue.
The apartments are self-catering, however, there is no provision of tea towels, washing up sponge, or washing up liquid. Not really satisfactory.
The beds and mattresses are very old and are uncomfortable.
As mentioned, it is possible to eat in the Avenida Hotel. The food was bland, repetitive and to be very honest, poor quality. I am not a fussy eater at all, but on some days, I struggled to find something that I liked. The food is served tepid, is poorly displayed and the selection is limited.
Additionally, despite having booked 10 nights full board and having confirmation of this, we were told that we were only reserved for half board on New Year’s Eve and was not allowed to eat in the Hotel on that night. We were only told of this after arriving, so had to fend for ourselves, not satisfactory. As everywhere was booked up on NYE, we had to buy cold food from a supermarket and make that do. It was not what we were expecting. The Reception Team at the Apartments were less than helpful and did not attempt to resolve or sort the issue.
If you want a central location in the Old Town, and can put up with noise, smells, poor quality furniture, poor food (if you eat in the Hotel) then these apartments are for you.
Unfortunately mine is bad. Room was nice and cannot fault it or the staff. Problem is the design of the building. 4 floors with a large central reservation so noise really travels. Excuse my next comment but by illustration , if someone on the 4th floor farted you would hear it if you were on the ground floor. I would sleep almost every day on the beach due to lack of sleep at night time.
Stayed there for 2 weeks and found the apartment big with a massive balcony, we overlooked the back which was not scenic but was quiet and no noise during the night, basic accommodation but spotless and really nice staff. Enjoy
Stayed there over Christmas. Sadly not for me as the shower flooded the bathroom when we used it, beds were knackered and it really is not somewhere I would stay at again.
However that said some folks have had a better time then us, beauty is you can use the hotel facilities. So make full use of the rooftop pool, Jacuzzi and the smashing food they do in the hotel.
Stayed there hundreds of times. Basic but clean & have everything you need. Free WiFi, great location, 5 mins to beach if that. Can be a little noisy at times. Surrounded by cafeterias, shops & bars. Right by walking street.
If you want some where where you can stay in hotel and lay around the pool and nice pool then id say no lol if you just want some where to sleep and shower then I’d say yes …we went last year we just laughed when we went in….opposite there’s an amazing view of another hotel though 😂. It was clean though.
Comfortable apartments, a bit noisy, warm only downside was the hot water tank not very big so had to wait ages for it to reheat if someone had a shower. We did not have to pay a holding deposit
We stayed on the top floor , room 502 I think it was . One bed , huge apartment . Bit noisy as they were refurbishing the building over the road .
No complaints at all . 100 Euro breakage charge , and I think it was 20 Euro for the safe . We only stayed 4 nights , that was early Dec 2017 . The good thing is as well you can use The hotel facilities, gym , pool , bar etc .
Geordie Girl – Have stayed here lots of times, they are in a great location in the Old town.
We were there again in June and To be honest they could do with being modernised now but they have always been clean.
The pool is quite small but there is a jacuzzi too.
The staff have always been polite with us.
The down side to them is if you get an apartment at the back, there is no view as its a courtyard and a wall.
They are 2 minutes from the beach and there are loads of shops and cafes and restaurants in the area.
Vivienne Jackson – Just back from Avendia Apt. Spacious n clean. Great if u get room overlooking street as we did. Beware u pay a deposit of €100 on arrival if staying a week, but get it back when u leave.
Donna Mains – Apartments are great. Just along the street past the big sports shop is the Pig n Whistle. One of the best bars in Benidorm . Great for a few before heading off to the new town and it’s a proper old English pub. Enjoy.
Susan Mckenna – The apartments have access to the hotel jacuzzi and the pool which is heated in winter. Lush place if you love the more Spanish atmosphere and only about a 15 min walk to the rowdy end.
Theresa Sarsfield Lawson – The apartments are lovely just 2 bad points don’t all have balconys and I don’t get a lot of hot water so it’s a case of in and out of the shower and there was only 2 of us God knows how u would get on if a family of 4 went x
Else Mills – Apartments outdated but nice, fantastic location and can be very noisy. Could not call them smelly. You can also look at estudios across the road. Apartments not so nice, but very adequate and not so noisy.
Vikky Towers – Stayed there last year Would never stay again they are small and pokey and seriously need updating x but they are in a fab location.
Deborah Sheil – Stay there all the time. Can be noisy at times but never known them to be smelly. Great location.
Ros Gaimer – Public area and apartment bathrooms VERY smelly for 3wks (Not sure if they had a problem with drains) Bedrooms, kitchen and lounge area free from smell. Apartments cleaned and towels changed regularly. Dated, but adequate facilities. Clean on the surface, but very dirty on closer inspection. Location perfect for everything. Sun on our street side until about 3pm, but other balcony rooms not so much sun! Didn’t hate the apartments, but def. didn’t love either. Location fantastic, so I think it all depends on one’s priorities for their particular holiday.
Not one for grumbling, but really let down by the Avenida Apartments we stayed in. It looks nothing like described, knackered beds, knackered furniture and a shower that leaks and floods the bathroom!. When I went to ask to fix it, the plumber said no issues and sent a cleaner to mop it up!.
What upset me the most, is that the hotel over the road (Hotel Avenida) is clean, spotless and is kept in top condition all the time. And before people complain that you get what you pay for, I know the apartments are a three star and you get what you pay for. BUT it felt really rundown and more of a two star, then a three.
Lorraine Norris Ne Grundy – Apts quiet basic but clean inside, apts have view of wall and facing apts but you can use facilities of avineda hotel facing and supermarket very near .good position in old town very near beach and walking St, 2 mins walk to rich bitch bar and lots bars restaurants in old town, taxi rank near 6 euros to new town .
