Ohhhh my pals stayed here..very dismal by all accounts..they moved rooms to 1 that was slightly better..but not what they expected going by pictures
Hi we stayed here in June. Clean but very old fashion. Food was hot and ok. Location brilliant. We slept well, never heard any noise. Hope u have a lovely hoilday xxx
we liked it. You get what you pay for we couldn't stay one night at home in a hotel for what we have paid for 3 nights half board, flights and transfers. I'm more than happy.

My son's girlfriend stayed there last October and she said it's disgusting. In fact she said it's a dump and should be avoided at all cost.x

Very basic hotel, but clean and have to say one the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in. We booked this hotel during the November fiesta as it was immediately across from the area of the beach where they let off the fireworks, we were not disappointed, the view was amazing and have to say they price we got for half board was not much more than some places were asking for self catering. The choice of food was limited but what was there was very nice. Not for those who like the entertainment of the new town, but a great base if you want to soak yourself in the Spanish culture particularly during fiestas.

Just had two weeks here. Basic clean hotel, would only stay in a sea view room and would only have a short stay here. Bar not open, not disabled friendly. Staff lovely.
Avoid the Esmeralda like the plague it is awful. The only good thing about it is the location. We had a room with paper packed round the light socket to hold it in, a very dodgy door lock - and the décor was "unique" (navy walls with white polystyrene blocks of various shapes stuck at random all over the wall, some of which had fallen off and left bare marks. It is serious need of a refurbishment!
You guys must have a different meaning of disgusting from me and my partner..... lol..... Listen, no one is more picky than her, and apart from the standard of food at night....( breakfast was quite passable)..... the way out decor of rooms she was perfectly happy given the price we paid...... and no one can say Esmeralda doesn't try..... staff were great with us..... but hey, horses for courses I suppose...... I've stayed in nearly all hotels along that top road nr jarrow lad..... mar Blu, Tannet Esmeralda ...... Tannit was best in my opinion.... again caters for Spanish but very good .... staff brill.
Denise Hillston - The decors very strange and you must have sea-view room but its clean and the the foods OK if you don't like the food its cheap enough to eat out its a lovely situation in the old town, its two stars thats what you pay for thats what you get !
Sue Makin - Not good. dirty rooms food not great. It's only plus is location and sea views.
Sheila Carey - Just don't do it. We stayed there last year never ever again I would do without an holiday.
Nicki Matthews - Stayed there last may. Never again. Food rubbish rooms disgusting. Unless it's been refurbished I would stay well away. Sorry my opinion
Douglas Johnston - Stayed there a few years ago. Good location 4 old town. Had a poor room at the back, poor view. Very Spanish, food basic. Wouldn't stay there again.
Barbara Donohoe - A sea view a must. We stayed in a back room, dingy no balcony, it dosent have a pool ,but you are so close t see it dosent matter, location old town brilliant we found food fine especially for what you pay, would stay again but pay extra get a front room.
Grant Pearson - It's vile worst hotel I've ever stayed in , food rotten , rooms rotten, beds like planks of wood.
Stephen Chalmers - More a hostal than a hotel. We stayed without kids and it was very cheap.. would I go again prob not. Clean but sparse . Location great , food dire. Sorry u did ask !!
Carolyn Pilkington - Stayed here 4 nights In March, very very basic but clean, towels changed daily and beds made. I was pleasantly surprised with the food not a large selection but mainly ok, although waitress/waiters looked miserable but were quite nice if you actually spoke to them.
Margaret Starrs Was booked for a week in July last year...stayed one night...wouldn't put a caged animal in it !!! Maria at reception has got to be the most ignorant female I've ever had the mis-fortune to come across !!!
Maxine Harrison - It is a very obscure hotel ..fantastic sea views to the front ...Over the road to the sea ..food is not a big choice but very tasty ..not a bad little hotel. ...
Adge Gorstridge- Friends of mine stayed - we visited - it was very basic - I wouldn't stay there - they said restaurant/food wasn't great - on the plus side - if your have a room at the front - fantastic views.
The hotel Esmarelda is not as bad as I would have thought for a 2 star, the food was great and the view in the dinning room is the best view I have ever had, bed was comfy and house keeping was a friendly chatty Lady,

We have stayed here twice, the first time the room was very tired looking but clean enough and comfortable but the beds were comfortable. Last time our room was painted in a very dark colour which made it very depressing plus it was in a bad state of repair - paper stuffed in a light fitting which was rather worrying. The first time the food was so bad that we just went b and b the next time- breakfast was fine. I certainly would NOT stay here again unless they have a major refurbishment
