7 of us arrived on 7th March for 4 nights for a 40th. Got to our rooms and there were 3 in 1 room and 4 in the other room. The rooms were twin rooms (for 2 people), we were fine with 3 in 1 room but the room of 4 was a joke. One of the girls has a crutch and beleive me when I say there was not enough room for her to walk from the room door to the balcony, 2 single beds and 2 camp beds took up the rest of the room space. We asked the lady at reception about this and was told they had no other rooms. We still weren’t happy so went back, she said no I can’t help you you didn’t book direct through the hotel, we booked with on the beach, so if we needed any help then we were to call them. We phoned them, had to send them photos with the room with 4 people in it, and if it didn’t reach health & safety standards then we would get a third room. We did get a third room but no thanks to the hotel staff. The staffs attitude to everything was shocking nobody cracked a smile. Speaking to ya in english then turning round and speaking Spanish to the other receptionist who could also speak good English, just pure rude. One English guy called John, he was the only nice one there. The rooms were clean. Spoke to other guests who had kettles in the room and some other guest who didn’t have a kettle, we didn’t either. The food choice wasn’t great at all, think the majority of us lived on chips. Wouldn’t recommend or stay here again!
I stayed here in January. found the staff very friendly..food was lovely with plenty of variety to suit all tastes..pool area and rooms are very clean..definitely will return .
Stayed here in November and would never stay again. Food was terrible, had to warm up in the microwave every meal. Everyday snacks were burgers or hotdogs, that were there for hours. My friend described this as a Jeremy Kyle type hotel, not our kind of hotel. Staff were miserable too. Definitely not a hotel I will staying in again. Love Benidorm though
My mate and wife are staying there now and only said yesterday the food is lovely and that have stayed in many hotels over here A I
I was there in April 2018 for 2 weeks and I agree with Nicci , when I was there the food wasn’t cooked properly it was raw I informed the staff and reception and they just wasn’t bothered
Nicci Stevenson – 22nd June 1018
Just got back from a week at this hotel! Staff not very friendly, only draught beer for all inclusive was Amstel which was flat in plastic small containers, food was never hot and choice was not the best, pool closes at 6pm, noisy hens and stags in corridors at stupid times knocking on wrong doors and shouting, people being sick on balconies and night entertainment very poor just my opinion!

The Gala Placidia……
Valerie Gardner Me and the hubby had a great 14 nights here at the Gala Placidia, yes there was stag and hen doo’s going on so what this is Benidorm it can handle anything! Come on down enjoy yourselves, we had a good deal and we also went A/I we are now drying out for a couple of weeks, needless to so they made no profit out of us whatsoever…..Val and Des enjoy we did…
There is wi fi here but you have to pay for it, it starts at 3 euro upwards we use the internet a lot so we paid for the full 14 days it cost us 20 euro for unlimited access, it did not let us down and the signal was quite strong, the rooms at the other side of the hotel get the first of the sun eventually late afternoon the pool view balconies get the sun. We were told that the TUI coach drops us at the bottom of the small hill in fact it dropped us off outside the hotel, the pick was at Levante Lux Apartments at the back of the hotel different companies have different drop off and pick up points, you are reminded the day before on the notice board, we traveled with TUI there are no reps here, full time reps are at the Port Benidorm 24/7 if you need them…..
Mark Liepins – 9th May 2018
Had a week there been home 4 days full of stag n hens having a great time. Rooms were basic but clean, food basic, staff pleasant enough, had to go to bed early just so I can get a few hours sleep as from 3 am we were woken by slamming doors and screaming
Justine Chardonnay Harding- April 8th 2018
Love it here stay every time we go to Benidorm..Good base , rooms cleaned every day lovely staff, pool area spotless..You can always eat something and I’m quite fussy. Don’t know about entertainment as we go out at night. Great here and we always have an amazing time. X
Just had a week there. It’s fine. Spotlessly clean. 2 nice pools. A I drinks. Rooms could do with refurb but looks as though the bathrooms have been refurbished. Great powerful shower. Food was fine. We had no trouble with stag and hen parties and there were a few there.
Me and my partner came back on Tuesday and we didn’t pay a deposit. The hotel is fine and the food is great. The only negative is the thin walls and you can hear everything in the room next door but we just put earplugs in and was fine
I’m just back from there last week on a 4 night break. Rooms clean, food ok but not brilliant. Staff were lovely. Beach and strip about 10 min walk away. I really enjoyed it as an AI. Would go back
Reading these reviews on this hotel I’m wondering how it can be so different. Staff pleasant enough. Rooms got cleaned and beds made every day. Good aircon. Breakfast I would say is the worse but lunch and evening meal you can always find something to eat.
Lovely puddings. Chocolate fountain twice since we’ve been there.
Ice creams available all day for all inclusive.
Lovely air conditioned bars and reception.
I would recommend it but I wouldn’t return coz it’s too far out of the main stuff but everything else good.
Yes not many sun beds and a lot of them get bagged by towels but that’s no different to any other foreign hotel
We are there at the moment and it is not as bad as people say. The pools get plenty of sunshine. It is not that close to the main strip but it’s only a 15 minute walk. Room is good. Cleaned every day. Food is good but not always loads of choice. They try to do a different theme each night for evening meal. Entertainment at night is not the best but there are plenty of other places to go for that
Tracy Heathcock – First hotel we stayed in we had a great time the Spanish loved us food was good rooms was cleaned every day never had a problem here don’t think I would stop with the stag and hens but the Spanish made us so welcome.
Sarah Jane Gutteridge – Stayed here a couple of times can get a bit rowdy with large male groups in the daytime round the pool. The rooms are good with big balcony’s. The food was ok but nothing to shout about not always as warm as it should be. However the staff were great very friendly.
fullerla2000 – Wasn’t best pleased. Had a mixture of families, elderly and stag and hen parties. Food ok in restaurant. Staff were nice apart from when little girl feel over and they wasn’t interested just told us to go to walk in centre which spoke no English. Close to town and beach. No real entertainment in sight. Rooms very basic and needs updating. Pools clean. Wouldn’t go back here.
Cheryl Harvey -I stayed there in May this year staff where very nice plenty of drinks no problem I thought food was ok lovely new big pool with bar plenty of sun beds bit of walk 10/15 mins to square would defo stay again.
Carol Hughes – Always stay at this hotel can’t fault it staff are great food is nice rooms are clean new pool is fab but could do with supplying kettles and cups in the rooms.
Anne Mccarthy – Great hotel stayed here for 2 weeks in Feb good food lovely staff only problem I had was the walk up from the main street to hotel as i have mobility problems would still go back again.
Annette Cleare – Stayed there in April not very impressed the food it was dreadful location was fine we were all Inc but had to go out early in the morning for a cuppa as nothing doing till 8am it was basic but clean plenty of stags & hens but wasn’t a problem to us.
Vince Lucas – It is amazing how people have had different experiences at hotels as said there in May this year food was ok something for everyone this is from a chef who has booked for prime ministers, royalty and heads of states .and the staff were fine .great new pool area and yes there where stags and hens but no problems at all there was a mixture of age groups. We have to remember it is only a 3 star hotel so for the price it was good I have again for July and November.
Helen Martin – We stay here nearly every time we go to Benidorm it’s so local and we have got to know all the shops and pubs, cafes now and really enjoy staying here , it’s cheap and cheerful it can get very nosy and sometimes the pool get overtaken by lots of lads but mostly it’s great ,it’s not as expensive as some other hotels and you get what you pay for and for the money we pay for all inc you can’t go wrong.
Hayley Murphy – Stayed a few time here. Can get very rowdy with stag and hen parties as it is a low budget all inclusive. Drinks are plentiful but I thought the food was very poor always ate at the jukebox across the road. Location is about 10-15 min walk to Morgan tavern coming back there is a slight incline up to hotel. Would not recommend if you have walking difficulties or in a wheelchair. The hotel also caters for a lot Spanish guests so this is emphasis-ed in the food and entertainment.
Nigel Williams – this hotel is ok people expect 5 star hotels for 3 star money i have stayed there 8 times in 2 years and never had a problem and the staff are great you will make your own mind up when you get there enjoy.
Jill Henson – We were there in Feb this year & hated every minute of it. Room was dirty, lots of things broken including my bed ! Rust & mould in the bathroom. The food was inedible, cold & no choice, except for the BBQ nite which was ok. We found the staff to be rude & very unhelpful. I’m sorry if you have booked this hotel but you may find it’s improved its standards. Also it’s a place where stags & hens stay so it can be quite noisy/rowdy. I do hope it’s ok for you though. We only stayed there for 5 nights so just put up with it but there are way better hotels in Benidorm.
Jimmy Briggs -I stayed in the Gala Placidia in October with my cousin. We only paid £250 for a week AI, so we got what we paid for. Room was very basic and had rust in the bath that looked like poo! The hotel was noisy with stag and hens, but we were out there for a piss up anyway, so suited us. Wouldn’t say it was suitable for a family holiday and looks like it hasn’t been refurbished since the 70’s! There was empty drink bottles left of the landings, some left there for days!! It’s a hotel where people were getting drunk and being very loud. The food was very basic and some of it was horrible, but there was always something to eat. I usually stay in the Sol Pelicanos; which is much, much better. If you want a very cheap holiday, you’ll get what you pay for!
Karen Wadsworth – went there in oct/nov 2 adults it was very quiet. hotel closed on our last day for bit of refurbishment dont know what but lots of builders doing stuff in reception area staff were lovely and friendly food was ok snacks where good always plenty choice rooms were good ours was clean not sure if would take kids only because of what heard about stags and hens but as 2 adults who are not really into late party nights i would def book again if price was right.
Julia Liddell – We stayed there 2 years ago. I would not recommend this hotel for children. The rooms are very poor and the balcony is not suitable for young ones. As others have said this is a great hotel for stags/hens etc looking for a budget get away… saying that the food was OK.
Martine Kelly Just came back in June absolute dump! Defo not for kids… kept up all night people fighting arguing and other stuff! Not fussy eater but good disgusting.. I am a travel agent and have stayed in 2 star up to 5 star and wouldn’t rate that a 1 star, don’t waste money! It’s cheap for 1 reason only, this has to be up there with the worst I have ever stopped in.
Mary West – I was there last week , complete refurb and the food was good they must have a new chef ,,stayed 2 yrs ago much better this time deffo would go again.
Shaun Bingham – Love Benidorm but the hotel was horrendous from start to finish… full of hen & stag do’s been rowdy every minute & security wouldn’t do anything as he couldn’t understand English so the rest of the holiday makers had to endure foul language all day , staff are ignorant , all inclusive not that good either … position of the hotel is good but stay away at all costs…
Diane Thacker – I love the hotel..cheap clean and cheerful…full of hens and stags…can be noisy …food only basic but not too bad….its a cheap hotel…you get what you pay for…i will be booking again for Nov.
Great few days at Gala Placidia staff super friendly can’t fault them Food good never went hungry. Super weather. Don’t believe all the bad reports on the Gala.
Jackie M Laycock, May 2017
Arrived back last night after another brilliant week …….we stayed at gala placidia..this is just our opinion..after reading many bad reviews and contacting people on here who had stayed..and worrying..well as 4…. 50 plus ladies… clean hotel ..staff lovely food was ok .. one drunken idiot who got dealt with efficiently and given the choice to go to his room for the night to sober up or get arrested…no issues at all.
