My husband & I stayed at the Picasso Apartments for the first time in November 2018. The apartment was a great size and very spacious. First impressions were that the apartment was of a good standard if a little dated but had everything you needed for a good stay. I must say, the first thing we noticed on opening the apartment door was the cleanliness of it, the fresh smell hit you straight away. The thing we felt that let the apartments down slightly was that you had to pay to watch the TV – I can understand having to pay for air con or wifi but not so much to watch TV. For the price we paid for a 6 night stay we certainly can’t complain though and would definitely return in the future.
My partner (Dawn Brown) and I stayed in these apartments on three occasions at various times of the year. We found on each stay that the rooms were clean and tidy, all be it a little dated. The staff very courteous and friendly who will deal with any issues or problems without fuss. For the prices we paid we could not complain what so ever. The only thing I would say is that the rooms could now do with updating, apparently the ladies only run the apartments on behalf of a chap who had no current plans to carry out any updates.
We have stayed in the Picasso apartments for the last 10 yrs truss & staff fantastic very friendly good food nice pool area .large apartments large balconys would recommend you won’t find anywhere better for the price
Our party of 3 stayed in Picasso Apartments from Wednesday 28th September – Wednesday 5th October 2016, self-catering, having 2 apartments.
There are lots of ‘things’ in the reception area, ornaments, clutter etc. The Reception area is only open during certain hours so a lot of forward planning is needed prior to arrival and departing. There were also lots of notices giving various instructions during your stay, which I felt was a little intimidating.
We intended to eat at the bar more than we did, but our first experience did not go as well as we had hoped so it put us off. We only ate a full English there, which was not really cooked enough for my liking, the bacon was floppy, the egg on the top was still clear and the toast looked like it had been shown the toaster…. That was it! We were also given some stern looks regarding leaving our sun loungers ‘reserved’ to go and get lunch, as this was a strict ‘no no’.
The apartments are located up a slight bank, which might be a problem for someone with mobility issues. It was a lot noisier than we expected as it appeared most of the hotels surrounding us welcomed hen/stag parties which needless to say were extremely noisy about 5am, most mornings.
We had apartments 12B and 12C which were on the top floor, so the views from the balcony were great. Our apartments were adequate for what we wanted it for, just sleeping, getting showered and ready to go out. The kitchen facilities were ok, minimal cutlery, glasses and plates. The fridge was a good size, but slightly run down. There was a microwave, kettle and toaster which we used, so that was good. The bathroom was a good size, the shower worked well. I also had a bath one evening, there was also a bidet. An iron and ironing board are also available in the apartments.
I was not overly impressed with the pool area, the sun loungers were uncomfortable. You can only use the pool area after 10am. You don’t get much sun around the pool either, plus the pool was freezing. I had a parasol the one morning we used the facilities onsite, which was falling apart and blew over in a gust of wind which nearly knocked me out, thank god I caught it. You also have to put your own sun loungers away, which is honestly not a problem, we learnt this from all the signs around the apartments telling you do to do this, but also people walked around the pool telling you whilst you were sunbathing. There was a strange atmosphere here, we talked to other guests at Picasso who also felt that they were not allowed to have fun or they would get told off.
Any other information
There are lots of things which incur charges, most of which we did not know about before we booked. They require a room security deposit of £80 and there is a charge for the WiFi which I can understand, but there were also charges for the television, the air con, fresh towels, toilet rolls etc.
Our room was not cleaned at all whilst we stayed there, which was disappointing as my other half had to do it every day after coming back from the beach, there were no clean bed-sheets either.
The fire alarm in our room just appeared to be an empty shell, no cover or battery. This did worry me considering we were on the top floor and to open the fire door to use the stairs required muscles like Arnie.
None of the 3 members of our party would stay here again to be honest, it is in serious need of some TLC, there were chunks of plaster missing from some walls, cupboard doors were hanging off etc. A lot of modernisation is required and to be honest some trust from the staff at Picasso towards their guests.
Caroline cowley – We’ve stayed in these apartments every year for 5 years they are very welcoming and friendly staff the rooms are clean and spacious , it’s up a slight hill but only a 10/15 min walk to the main strip and the beach . The food and drink is cheap and homemade , can’t really fault it that’s why we return yearly you get more than you pay for.
Jackie Humes – We have stayed there before canny apartments , be warned you have to pay a 60 euro deposit , we paid English money.
Shell Ives-smith – They are great, everything you need in them including iron and ironing board, lovely restaurant at reasonable prices and lovely friendly staff x
Vanessa Cooper – We stayed over Christmas the staff are nice they are very basic don’t get a lot of sun on the balcony there are extra charges for everything and the thing that aggravated me the most was if you have an early flight you have to hand you safe keys in at 7 pm the night before so we were left with all are valuables and no where to put them.
Mick Derbyshire – Stayed last 2 years and already booked for November. Good size apartments. Dated but having bit of a face-lift this year. Friendly staff and decent food. Won’t get better for the price.
Heatherb Thomas – Stayed there 3 years ago for a week, it was a last minute New Year break. Large clean apartments. Staff were friendly and helpful. Not too far from the Indoor market. The price was excellent and I would stay there again.
