MEDPLAYA HOTEL RIO PARK
Rose Poole great location - massive balcony [ours anyway] - views not great but lovely room and the food
served there was absolutely fantastic. Great price and nice staff. 8/10
Jackie Stanley Stayed here July (2014) and had a great holiday. The room was quite spacious and had a great double mirror wardrobe. bathroom bit outdated but good enough and the room was always cleaned daily/fresh towels etc. Good selection of English TV channels but the TV was a bit old! We were overlooking the entrance and the balcolny was small and we overlooked everyone else which I didnt like! Rubbish views also but i think a pool view room is much better. No fridge. WIFI in lobby. We thought the food was very good and great choice every nite - ok dining room and sit where you want. Pool area very big and a few cannopys to sit under so you dont have to fight for umbrella or sunbeds anytime... the entertainment team was totally brilliant - at least 10 singers/ dancers and they performed a show every night - no other hotel has such a team! Also every night are really good acts eg Blues Brothers.....drinks are very well priced also. If you compare prices the Rio is great value for money and Im tempted to stay again but the biggest downside is that its set back a way from the main drag and near the Yellow Brick Road path which has a bad reputaion for muggings etc Which ever way you walk home its a bit deserted and I didnt feel very happy! Perfectly okay in daytime but I would never walk back alone at night. shame really cos we thought on the whole its a good hotel.
Lisa James Fabulous hotel been 7 times booked again for july 10 / 10
Margaret Roberts Have been goin 2 this hotel 4 nearly 21 yrs it's our 2nd home & my 12 yr old grandson been since 18 months old & he loves it! There have been changes since our last visit & some staff have retired especially our dear friend Jose the manager who has been like an uncle 2 so many families, & Santiago from the dining room we've had the most Fantastic hols here & will be back in August! Yes it may b a bit out of the way 4 some but at least it's not as noisy as more central ones! Basic but very clean, have never had reason 2 complain about anything other than maybe a few obnoxious guests who think it's just their holiday & others should'nt spoil it! Rating is worth more than 10/10!
Lee Lee Great pools, fantastic entertainment, great for adults and family's, kids club with lots to do. Good location, Highly recommend.
Ian Topping Nice rooms. Location good but can be a bit scary if walking alone down the yellow brick road. Fantastic food. Bingo for the ones who want it, kids entertainment, and cheap bar prices. What's not to like!!! 9/10
Karen Gilson our very 1st trip to Benidorm, we stayed here. Pool 1970's still, but everyone goes for the food, excellent! 8/10
Leanne Phillips Fitzgerald Brill hotel can’t fault it 5 mins to beach and nightlife 10/10
Catherine West Was Holt Hotel nice and clean, Shaun Elliot entertainer rubbish, avoid at all costs. Couldnt fault anything else with it, location great
Paul Jones Location for me not great. Hotel very nice and clean. Big pool and very clean.
Lisa Duke Great hotel. Friendly staff, food is really nice and the hotel itself is really clean. I really can't fault this hotel. I always stay at the Med Playa hotels and have always been totally satisfied with them. Definitely 10/10 for me.
Stephanie Armstrong Stayed there last April....wouldnt stay there again. Rooms not the cleanest. very basic...in need of refurb. Did enjoy Benny though. always do. 3/10
Neil Berrigan Great Hotel. Myself and family been there many times. food is always good and the pool is great for adults and children. The lifts can get a bit full around meal times and they do have a tendency to be cleaning them on Saturday morning when everyone is leaving and need the lifts. Service has always been good on the reception and bar. Location wise its not very well lit surrounding the hotel but where in Benidorm is? I would recommend the Rio park to anybody (were booked to go back) and give it 8/10 .
Deborah Tim Barnatt We always just pop in for a drink on that lovely little terrace where they play the sports channel.. lovely place. x
Anne Crowther One word for this hotel fantastic 10/10
Ron Brumwell Got a great deal with Thompsons last year for Rio Park, excellent food ,hotel clean and close to nightlife, ,only problem was we were in single rooms ,they are tiny but apart from that it’s a superb hotel 9/10 x
Robert Christopher Broderick Stayed here at the beginning of December excellent food for a 2* hotel was the same quality as a 4*, staff are very good always there to assist you however they can. In the reception area there is a little shop which sold gift and little bits you may need throughout your stay. The rooms are basic and clean the only letdown for us was there is no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which was annoying as we had young children and wake up at 6/7 and couldn’t get a hot drink until breakfast, the Thomas cook reps have a couple of kettles if you ask nicely they will lend you while you’re there....entertainment beer wine and local spirts were nice and cheap...only complaint I had from the week was the type of people that stay in the winter months they were miserable and downright rude giving us horrible looks coz our children were a little excited and bored as was nothing for them to do so they became loud i couldn’t shout and tell them off for being kids...will definitely return to Rio Park in the summer so kids will have stuff to do...so thank you HOTEL MED PLAYA RIO PARK for a lovely week. 10/10
Stella Davidson We stayed there last January, we are "older" people, but found some old people there very grumpy and very ignorant. They refused to take their turn for the self service food in the dining room and pushed others out of the way. The hotel was clean, friendly, basic rooms and the staff very good. The price was very reasonable. I would go again.
Lucy Curtin Stayed at Rio Park May 2014. Food is so so.. breakfast was good.. however the rooms are lovely.. and the pool is good.. lovely hotel. returning this September.. lovely pub across the road too called the Wooky Hollow.. location is good and not to far to walk to the strip or the beach.. cant wait to return.
Geoffrey Sharp Just got back from Rio park 13/1/15 it's a great place to stay, the rooms are getting a bit tatty now but they are clean and large enough for 2, the food has definitely improved, they got a new chef a few weeks ago, the entertainment is great, the bar prices are still good, although they have gone up in the connection bar, the hotel staff are brilliant, especially pedro and Tudor in the connection bar, we have stayed here many times and for the price and location we love it, I will give it 9/10.
Mick Johnson Been here 13 times and wont stay anywhere else, great position, family friendly, staff outstanding, the entertainment now beats all 10/10
Swansea1 - Stayed here in may hotel was nice friendly staff plenty to do only thing i did find was the single rooms are not suitable if you are disabled and need a bit of extra room as the rooms are quiet small i have problems with my legs and was hard to bath as the gap was only about 14 in away from toilet so hard for a disabled person with bad legs who struggles i was offered a upgrade for 180 euro for my stay but was then told no room available this was my only problem with hotel i would suggest if you have a leg disability email the hotel group with your booking number and they will try and accommodate you on your next trip this is what i have done for October.
Maggie Rothwell - Rio park do have the most fab animation team entertainment is brilliant for children and adults whether you go summer or winter you don't have to go out at night if you don't want to In winter there are 3 bars to choose from in the summer the entertainment is out side and of course for the men in your life there is a sports bar open at night I can't wait to go again.

Highly recommend the Rio Park hotel for that perfect time in Benidorm.
They offer superior rooms which we had and OMG how big they are.
Loads of room
Bathroom with walk in shower
Tea and coffee facilities in the room which is replenished daily
A fridge for those wine bottles
A 32" screen tv
Will never go back to a standard room ever again
It spoils you
The meals were brilliant, so much choice.
Sharon Price -
Rio park , is a good quality 2/3 star hotel , should be 4 star , they have a varied food menu , 3 acts on each night for entertainment , with very helpful staff , & bar prices very cheap.
Maggie Rothwell - Love it food nice close to bars round the corner from marina hotel and just round the corner for Sinatra 10 mins to the beach
Entertainment in hotel spot on if you don't want to go out
Staff nice and helpful some of the rooms need up dating they are doing the top floor in January 2017 have stayed in club room king size bed 32 inch TV fridge walk in shower bathroom is brilliant annex bedroom single bed flat scene TV hairdryer tea and coffee
In the other rooms they are basic at the moment.
Chris Weegram - Stayed in Rio first three times stayed in Benidorm, rooms are basic ... But very clean... Food was fantastic ... Entertainment. " we thought" for the elderly ... Holiday camp stuff, reps doing Abba etc... and bingo ... Not our cup of tea ... But then they exchanged hands ... Went back and food not so good,
nowhere near as much choice and one or the other of the lifts broke down every day. Happy hour still good. But they then decided to look the gate from the front on a night and you had to walk up the dark yellow brick road, passing young adult males sleeping on benches etc. Was a bit scary... Now stay in apartments as its so cheap to eat out anyway ... Not knocking any one ... Just an honest opinion ..

Morning all , before we came on hols I was asking about the upgrade rooms at Rio park so just in case anyone's interested I can tell you they are really good you do get free safe hairdryer kettle and tea stuff and fridge lovely rooms my only little quibble is the wardrobes are quite small as in haven't got the drop to hang dresses and no drawers for bits and bobs and have to be careful in shower no rail and could do with small shelf for shampoo etc have to put stuff on the floor but having said that will definitely be booking them again.
David Norris Snr - we stayed in Rio park over Easter and was given free upgrade but without the extras except the hair dryers but not going to knock it they really nice done to a really high standard was very impressed, also found they deffo need shower curtains bathroom nearly flooded everyday and a soap tray needed.
David Mathison - We stayed in the upgraded rooms 2 weeks ago well worth the extra money, as you said not much room in wardrobes and no shelf space at all you need to take hangers with you only 5 supplied. You were also correct about the shower very slippery when wet we moved the little bathroom chair into the shower end and put all toiletries on this which worked very well. Tea and coffee replenished every day and the rooms have been soundproofed so you don't here any noise from next door giving you a good night's sleep.
Keith Fender - After a 3rd visit in five years,Its become apparent that the rio park needs serious attention. After arriving at reception around 11.15 having booked with Thomson we were told that we couldn't book in till 12.00 pm,
Not the best situation.
I d requested a high front facing room via email,we got the high floor, I do understand not all requests can b fulfilled but i did put the request in the best part of 6 months ago !.
Further to this,I sent another mail a couple of month ago asking for our relatives who booked after us to be located close to us, this wasn't fulfilled , When i questioned this , we were told bluntly that no request had been made and the receptionist then blanked us.We decided not to get into a argument and settled on what we had been given.
We got to the room, which was very tired.Old fashioned and basic.!
The food was edible but not tasty, very generic and virtually the same choice every night.
On top of this, Our bathroom got flooded from the above apartment,at 2 in the morning.
My wife phoned reception explaining that the electrics had tripped when the bathroom light was turned on, She was told there was nothing that could be done and we'd have to make do until the morning.
I went to reception and explained we needed to be moved, which they then agreed with.
Sadly this is the last time we'll use the hotel for our stay.
Sheryl Sheffield - Omg, cant believe what im reading, I stayed at Rio park in Feb for a week, and couldn't fault it, food was good, entertainment was fab, great staff, rooms was cleaned everyday, comfortable, will deffo go again, the only thing that let it down was the lifts at meal times but as a young 50 ish woman i just used the stairs.
Andrew Pritchard - have stayed at rio park a few times have always liked it ,,will agree hotel rooms are a bit dated but the hotel is just at the start of refurbishing the rooms floor by floor,,,,,got to admit the food as got a little bland last few visits but then again I aint one for Spanish style of food ... the entertainment at rio park is mostly great but will say that a few and only a few (2 )of the bar staff are bad mannered and cant serve a pint of ale,,,but the hotel has this year upgraded their WI FI reception and its free .....all in all for what you pay to stay their its cheap and cheerful ,,,and every time I been its always had plenty of family's with kids and never seen a hen or stag do stay at the hotel,,, will say thou their is a noise issue but I have found that in most hotels in Benidorm its just the way they build places.
Tommy Campbell - You would not be let down by the entertainment at the Rio Park. I am there now and have never been out at night because the in house entertainment has been brill . As for the rooms, they are gradually doing the rooms up but the existing rooms are perfectly adequate for your average person. I would not have any problems with recommending the Rio Park.

It's a older style hotel (I stayed there 30 years ago lol) and have recently. its got a good reputation for entertainment as the shows are fantastic, believe the rooms are getting done floor by floor. Food is basic but fresh and bar prices are brill. just walk straight up from the Marina, you don't need to walk up the so called yellow brick road.Good choice for a winter hotel IMO.

Came back on Tuesday after staying two weeks in the Rio Park. When I stayed here in January the food and overall cleanliness was much better. This time the food wasn't good, we ate out a few times. First room they gave us wasn't good so they changed our room. Drink is cheap here, but I won't be staying here again.

We go there 4 times a year but only in the winter months, its a 2* hotel offering value for money holidays, its entertainment is 2nd to none, food is ok, bar prices are very low for an hotel. It does not suit everybody but its always busy and its a very friendly place to be......
Just come back from a week here and it does what it says on the tin. We got a cheap late deal so can't complain about what we had. Room had seen better days and is badly in need of refurbishment although it was very clean and bathroom the same. Place is full of the older generation, some of them more friendly than others. We had a complaint that we had our TV on too loud at night even though it was only on volume 8 so be prepared to be treated like you have committed the crime of the century should you get one of these cantankerous old dears in the room next door. Food choice was good at each meal although could have done with a being a bit hotter. 2 star prices means 2 star quality in all areas apart from the staff and the entertainment both of which were faultless. The drinks in the hotel are also cheaper than the bars outside and with 3 acts on a night there is no need to go out at night time unless you really want to. I personally wouldn't go back to this hotel although can see why many return. As long as you go expecting 2 star accommodation and food quality plus paper thin walls then you won't be disappointed.

My First Benidorm Holiday At The Rio
Travelled from Glasgow and stayed at the Rio Park for the first time back in August of 1986 for 2 weeks with my cousin Billy in a room on the 8th floor overlooking pool. Had a fabulous time at hotel and in resort.
Regarding the now dodgy yellow brick road, when we were there back then, it was well kept and wee shops on it as you walked down to beach and back. Nothing threatening about it in any way. However, on my last visit to Benidorm in July 2015, I decided to walk up and have a drink at the Rio Park. Have to say I was saddened at the change of this wee pathway, which was unkempt in places, dark and threatening. It could easily be restored to it's former condition by those in authority and definitely needs more lighting outside hotel and along the length of it.
The hotel has changed on the ground level quite a bit since my first visit, more commercial with things on display to buy and the big seating area and stage weren't there in '86. Bought a drink, took in the show and was very impressed at what's on offer for a so-called 2-star hotel.
I would definitely stay at the Rio again if it was the best deal on offer when looking to book another 2 weeks in Benidorm.
Well we landed back in newcastle yesterday from a week half board in Rio park.
Food spot on.
Sunbeds i found back breaking due to bad back and you couldnt adjust in any way.
Lifts took awhile for some but we were ok.
Superior room lovely air con poor though.
Needs doing up
Stayed at this hotel in may what a shit hole dirty rooms food cold or luke warm lifts to small only take 4 people in take ages to come to floors the glass lifts were covered in bird shit pool area looks tired sun beds are all old and painted stray cats out side front of hotel due to idiots feeding them saw rats their aswell
Good hotel poor food
What a lovely hotel we were in a new refurbished room on 10th floor but did not have facilities to make any hot drinks in our room the staff are friendly and hotel was cleaned to a very high standard only thing that lets down the Rio Park is the quality of the meals were poop and on Sunday was nothing we could eat on the menu apart from the deserts can’t wait to see the hotel refurbishment finished I would stay in this hotel again
Brilliant for families
A really great hotel especially if you take children. Entertainment for the is non stop. Morning til night. Adult entertainment is very good with top class acts. Food was always nice plenty of it and hot. Hopefully when we return next June the pool area will have had a complete refurb as although it is a very big pool it is not very child friendly with ladders to go down to oools All staff Are very friendly and make a point of having a chat and a joke.
Paid top money for upgraded room. Small balcony with awful view and instead of walk in/wet room got a small shower cubicle. Went to dinner and it was like a zoo! People pushing in and shoving-plates piled high! Food wasn't great either!
Entertainment was fab though and drinks were very reasonably priced. Lasted one night and moved hotels! People will either love it or hate it!
Rio Park Refurbishment updateThe hotel chain Med Playa will remodel the Rio Park hotel, The works will start in January and end in May, coinciding with the start of the tourist season. The reform involves an investment of € 8,900,000, which is added to the € 3,274,000 that cost the two previous phases of the work. With the remodeling, the Hotel Río Park will go from two to four stars.
Built in 1974, the hotel consists of 408 rooms and 14 floors. In the first phase two plants were remodeled, in a second three more and in 2019 the most important action will be carried out, with the renovation of the other seven plants. It will act in 238 rooms, in which the furniture and pavements will be completely changed. The current bathtubs will also be replaced by shower trays to enhance, as well, the comfort of the customers.
Taking advantage of the works, the double rooms of the complex will be replaced by other triple and family rooms. Of the latter, 48 will be four-fold with the goal that the family audience -which is majority in the summer season- has all the comforts.
Another novelty is the remodeling of the reception and the creation of new public baths, as well as the improvement of the accessibility of the elevators. For this reason two more will be installed, one of them specifically for people with reduced mobility. And it is that the adaptation for the elimination of architectural barriers is a constant in the project. With this intention, apart from improving the accessibility of the pool from the terrace, 14 family rooms with adapted bathrooms will be built.
The remodeling will also be applied outside the hotel, where a new aquatic play area with a lagoon pool for adults will be created, and a "Splashpad" pool (a water park with no depth) as well as a specific leisure area. for the little ones. This is a bet in which the Med Playa chain affects all the remodeling carried out in the hotel complexes it manages. Having a water area for children is a differentiating element from other chains and, in addition, allows families to have at their disposal a new recreational service. Taking advantage of the execution of the project, the hotel's air conditioning system will be renewed, replacing the current chillers with others with inverter systems of high energy efficiency and little emission of CO2 with clean gas R134.
As for the façade, the current iron railings will be replaced by a new concept of glass and stainless steel that will contribute to a much more current image. Finally, there will be a total renovation of the buffet area and an al fresco restaurant will be created, with top quality products that can be tasted on the terrace.
With all these works, the Hotel Río Park will go from having a two-star rating to a four-star hotel. An action that Med Playa makes with the aim of betting on quality tourism. Benidorm is, for the chain, the most important hotel in Spain, and manages five hotels in the city of Alicante. The Rio Park Hotel has a workforce of 135 people and in 2017 it had a turnover of 9.2 million euros.
Rio for families
Couldn't fault it. Rooms were spotless and housekeeping ladies were lovely. Food was good and lots of choice. Kept the little ones entertained and the children's play water park is brilliant. Definately a must for families. Highly recommended
We've only been back from the Rio 2 week,s and the food was gorgeous and im a very fussy picky eater, and i used to be a cook Most night there was a roast dinner beef and lamb were cooked to perfection plenty of other choices loads of salad choice different ham and cheeses, and the gala dinner was just fantastic,
