Spanish Oven Baked Steak Recipe - This is a simple and tasty steak dish which will become a firm favourite with all the family, as this dish is slow cooked in the oven you can use any type of steak you wish and there is no need to spend a fortune on expensive meat making it a nice economical family meal,
Steak Recipe - Ingredients, serves 4 - 6
6, 6 - 8 oz steaks (1 per person)
Salt and Pepper
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
1 large onion, slicked into 1/4 inch rings
1 of each, Green, yellow, orange, red bell peppers, washed, de-seeded and cut into 1/4 inch rings
1 large unwaxed lemon cut into 1/4 inch rings
For the Sauce
1.5 cups of tomato ketchup or Spanish Sofrito
3tsp Worcestershire Sauce
Salt and Pepper
3 tbsp water
Spanish Oven Baked Steak Recipe
Method
Preheat oven to 160ºc
Cut the steak into strips 1/4 inch thick, lay them in a large casserole dish and sprinkle with salt, fresh ground black pepper and the minced/crushed garlic.
Layer the sliced onion rings, peppers and lemon slices
Combine all the ingredients for the sauce and spread over the top of the meat and peppers etc.
Cover the casserole dish with the lid or with Aluminum foil.
Bake for 1 hour, then remove the foil, raise the oven temperature to 190ºc and bake for a further 30 minutes, until the edges of some of the vegetables are just starting to brown. (Adjust cooking time according to thickness of steaks and how well you prefer your steak cooked).
Serve with mashed potatoes, thick cut chips or even rice.
