Alicante: Agua Amarga

🗓️ Open: 15 June – 15 September (dates can change yearly)

This beach is made for dogs. It has:

  • Hammocks with umbrellas for shade

  • Elevated platforms to keep paws off the hot sand

  • A 250 m² area for your dog’s toilet needs

✔️ Cleaned and disinfected daily. All dogs need a passport with up-to-date vaccinations.

Altea: Playa Mar y Montaña

📍 Near Altea Hills

A small shingle beach with no services, but parking is nearby. Great for a quick visit.

Altea: Playa de la Olla

📍 Close to Chiringuito Arrecife and Villa Gadea urbanisation

A quiet beach for a peaceful walk and swim with your dog.

Calpe: Cala Les Urques

📍 South of Calpe, near Puerto Blanco marina

A small gravel beach open all year round. Enjoy amazing views of the Rock of Ifach.

Denia: Punta del Raset

📍 Northern breakwater at Punta del Raset

El Campello: Playa de Punta del Riu

Orihuela: Mosca Cove (Cala Mosca II)

The only dog beach in Orihuela. It is sandy, natural, and open all year with no time limits.

Santa Pola: Calas del Cuartel

📍 Near Santa Pola lighthouse

A small sandy and pebbly beach. You can bring up to two dogs. Dangerous breeds must wear muzzles.

Torrevieja: Rocío Cala

📍 Between Cala Ferris and Rocío del Mar beach

A small cove where pets are welcome for a swim.

Villajoyosa: Playa El Xarco

📍 Between El Campello and Villajoyosa

A quiet pebble beach with limited parking. It can be windy but is ideal if you want peace and fewer people.

✅ Checklist Before Taking Your Dog to the Beach

✔️ Pet Passport & Vaccinations: Up-to-date, including rabies. Microchip required by law.
✔️ ID Collar: Include your address and phone number.
✔️ Food & Water: Bring bowls, enough food, and a can opener if needed.
✔️ Dog Poop Bags: Clean up after your pet to avoid fines.
✔️ Recent Photo: Helps find your dog if they run off.
✔️ First Aid Kit: For minor injuries or insect bites.
✔️ Toys: Keep your dog happy and occupied.

⚠️ Important Rules

Blue Flag Beaches

These beaches do not allow dogs (except guide dogs) during bathing season and sometimes all year.

Rules for PPD Dogs (Potentially Dangerous Dogs)

If your dog is a PPD breed (e.g., Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Doberman, Akita), you must:

  • Use a muzzle and a fixed leash under 2m

  • Hold a special license and public liability insurance

  • Be over 18 with no criminal record

  • Ensure your dog is registered and microchipped

🔴 Only one PPD dog per handler is allowed.

💡 Rules vary by region. Check with your local town hall before visiting.

🚫 Fines

Non-compliance can lead to fines from €90 to €1,500, depending on local regulations.
