METHOD

How to make the Alicante toña recipe:

Heat the milk and dissolve the yeast in it , mixing to integrate. Place to one side.

In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar and zest and orange blossom water if using.

Make a well in the center and pour the eggs and salt in. Beat lightly and add the oil.

Add little by little then add the milk with the yeast .

Mix and once a somewhat sticky dough is formed, cover with a cloth and allow it rest for an hour.

After 1 hour, knead again, this time more vigorously, if possible without adding more flour.

When the dough is uniform and elastic, form it into a ball and let it rest for at least two hours, until it doubles in size.

Once it has doubled in size, divide the dough into six portions or your preferred size.

Grease a baking tray and place them there , leaving plenty of space between them.

Cover and leave them for another hour.

Preheat the oven to 200°.

Cover them with sugar and put them in the oven for 20 minutes. They should be toasted on the outside.

Wait for them to cool and enjoy.

The Alicante toña recipe is not difficult to make and is well worth trying, you just need to have some patience.
