The Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar which is the authority that oversees water supplies to our region of the Comunidad Valenciana has declared an "exceptional situation" for the state of our water reserves, which they say are low because of the worst drought for 33 years. They emphasise that water for personal use is guaranteed in our region, but there could be restrictions on water used by the agricultural sector if things don't improve by May. (They use up to 80% of the water reserves available, while water for personal use comes out at around 15%).

Water supplies to Benidorm are totally guaranteed, as we have the two reservoirs of Guadalest and Amadorio, but also a completed pipeline directly linking a huge desalination plant near Alicante and the Amadorio reservoir, which can top up supplies if ever needed.
