State rail company RENFE is upgrading its trains that run on the route Murcia-Alicante and up to Valladolid from May 21st. The AVLO service of the company will be using the newer S106 trains, which have over 500 seats. The upgrading will mean that seat availability will rise from the current 5,000 to more than 7,000 from that date. The journey from Alicante to Valladolid (or back) is an unbelievably quick 3 hours and 42 minutes. Tickets are on sale on the "tarifa Superprecios" tariff for the AVLO trains from just 7€!
