Shaded walkways surrounded by nature
-
Sparkling cascades and flowing streams
-
The historic old flour mill, once essential to local farmers
⏱ Trail Duration
The walk takes 45 minutes to 1 hour at a gentle pace — ideal for families with children or a relaxing stroll with your dog.
⚠️ Important to Know
Some parts of the path are uneven, so it’s not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs, or visitors with significant mobility difficulties.
🚗 Where to Park & How to Find the Bolulla - Ruta del Agua
You can park directly at the start of the trail:
📍 Ruta del Agua de Bolulla, 03518 Bolulla, Alicante
The area is clearly signposted.

Getting There:
-
Drive into Bolulla and take the first road on your right.
-
You’ll find several parking spaces along this road.
-
Once parked, the river will be on your left — a good sign you’re in the right spot!
Starting the Walk:
-
Head straight along the unpaved road.
-
After a short distance, you’ll reach a fork with private land on both sides.
-
Look for the Ruta del Agua sign — it will guide you onto the trail.

🧗 Optional Steep Climb with Guiding Ropes
For adventurous walkers, there’s a short but steep rope-assisted climb partway along the route.
-
The path is narrow and newly equipped with support ropes.
-
At the top, you’ll see water emerging from a small hole in the rock, feeding the Font dels Xorros.
⚠️ Note:
-
This section is optional.
-
Avoid it if you have mobility issues, a fear of heights, or if the ground is wet.
-
The rest of the route can be enjoyed without this climb.

💦 Font dels Xorros
If you skip the rope climb and continue along the main trail, you’ll soon reach Font dels Xorros (also known as Font de Renyinoyosa).
-
This waterfall is especially impressive after rainfall, though it flows year-round.
-
It’s a peaceful spot to rest, listen to the water, and take photos.
Next to the font, an information panel explains its historical importance to Bolulla’s residents.
If you visit after a recent rainfall the falls will be a lot heavier. The photos below were taken late September.

🏊 Swimming Spots
Swimming is not possible directly at the Font dels Xorros — the water emerges from a rock into shallow channels.
However, if you follow the narrow walkway on the left, you’ll reach another waterfall with a crystal-clear pool.
-
This area, marked “Assut” (meaning “water dam”), has shallow pools where you can dip your feet or cool off.
-
Always check water depth and flow before entering, and respect the natural surroundings.

🏛 Historic Mill & Final Stretch
Continuing along the path, you’ll pass:
-
A small aqueduct diverting water to the municipal laundry and nearby orchards.

-
A shallow stream crossing with stepping stones.

-
A steeper section leading to the remains of the old flour mill, which operated until the 20th century and served farmers from Bolulla and Tárbena.

Above the mill lies a large pond, which always holds water. This marks the end of the trail.

🔄 Return Journey
From here, simply retrace your steps. On the way back, the scenery feels fresh — new angles, changing light, and details you may have missed before.
