Just come back from Xmas and new year, 5th visit and personally I won’t be returning as needs a good refurbishment. Better hotels for the same price.
Only a small way up the hill-I managed it fine at least three times a day and there are steps from the seafront to walk up and you are nearly there (cuts a lot of the hill out).
