Anti discrimination laws in Spain now make it illegal for hotels to discriminate against families.
Article 5 of Decree 10/2021, of January 22nd, of the Consell, approving the Regulation, regulating tourist accommodation in the Valencian Community, establishes that tourist accommodation cannot discriminate "on grounds of sex, nationality, racial or ethnic origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, family group, sexual development, functional diversity or disability, religion or beliefs, political ideas, poverty, language, culture, disease, aesthetics, body or any other personal or social condition or circumstance".
Hotels can however make it clear that there are very few facilities for families, such as NO children's menus, NO animation and NO activities that could be considered suitable for children.
Their incentive to do so is quite clear, couples without children have been proven to spend more than families, and in many cases, can afford to make several getaways a year. this has led to an increase of 5% of hotels in the Alicante Province "skirting" around the discrimination laws, to dissuade families with children by NOT providing anything that would encourage them to book.
Hotels have freedom to promote themselves under the label they prefer to guide their services to a certain sector: families, people with pets ... In this sense, they can be advertised as "adults only" hotels. This type of hotel will attract couples or those looking for a quiet holiday. However, an establishment cannot hide behind this label to prohibit the entry of an entire group, in this case minors. Under no circumstances can access be restricted to people who do not fall within that target audience, just as couples without children are not prohibited from entering family hotels.
So instead of seeing "ADULT ONLY" you will see more and more hotels being advertised as "DESIGNED FOR ADULTS" and "RECOMMENDED FOR ADULTS" etc.
If you show up at a hotel with a minor and they do not let you in, there would be a basis for legal action. This is because it is discriminatory, since it would be the same as prohibiting the entry of a visitor because of their religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, in Spain, it is not legal to prohibit the entry of minors under the excuse of the right of admission.

Why do solo travellers have to pay more?
When booking to travel alone there is often the annoyance of having to pay a single supplement this is because hotels traditionally provided services on the basis of people travelling in pairs, with a limited number of single rooms. Since hotels charge per room and not the number of people staying in them, solo travellers will proportionately pay higher prices, though many hotels will offer a discounted rate to solo travellers rather than charging them the full room rate, so always ask when booking.
The fixed costs of running a room are the same no matter how many people occupy it and the hotels costs for laundry, housekeeping, heating and lighting remain the same no matter how many are sharing the room. Also, only one person will spend money on food, beverages, hence the generally higher costs for booking a room for one.

Tips
To keep costs down look at travelling out of the peak summer months as rates are much lower and hotels will be more likely to offer discounts to solo travellers.
Ditch the middleman – You tend to have a better chance of a deal when you call the hotel directly.
Consider sharing – If you are travelling with friends, or if part of tour group, sharing a room with another of the same sex.

New Rules 2023
The new laws do not make it obligatory that establishments accept pets, but however, do set out that places have to have clear policies on whether they can be admitted or not, and under what circumstances.
LOCAL NEWS 25th January 2021 - Benidorm hotel chain to turn its hotels into "pet friendly" to attract tourists
The Magic Costa Blanca hotel chain in Benidorm will bet on 'pet friendly' tourism and allow dogs and cats to stay in 9 of their accommodation located on the Costa Blanca.
The Magic Costa Blanca chain will also include one of its hotels in Gandía where, for a small fee (from 10 euros per night, depending on the hotel chosen) you can share the holidays with the animals. The Hotel Group based in Benidorm is a pioneer in the commitment to the Ultra All Inclusive (UTI) regime, a modality that allows its guests to enjoy experiences such as excursions, access to spas or unlimited free consumption of food and drink. From now on, all UTI customers who book a stay equal to or greater than one week will also have their pet's accommodation included free of charge.
To ensure good coexistence between animals and other holiday makers, packs will be offered for dogs and cats that include amenities such as snacks or special beds for them. In addition, it has prepared a regulation (with measures such as weight limits in some establishments, the obligation not to leave only the animal in the room or prevent its access to areas such as restaurants) that all travellers with a dog or cat must sign before entering the establishment.
About 25% of Spanish households live with a dog, of which 65% travel at least once a year with him. This translates into almost seven million pet travellers who move about 10 million euros a year.

Dog Friendly Resort The Trust Resort - Ondara, this is the largest tourist complex specially designed for pets in Spain.
This tourist complex is designed especially for dogs, it has a canine residence, canine education, as well as hairdressing, food and canine sports services. There is even a beach bar to enjoy the aperitif with your dog.
Aquacan is one of the few swimming pools for dogs in the entire Valencian Community (there is another in Gos Aventura in Castellón), and with 1,000 square meters, one of the largest in Spain. In addition, it has an entrance that simulates a beach so that animals can enter and exit more easily.
The pool is full of waterfalls, slides and water jets, in a fully fenced enclosure. Users with unsociable pets have the option of going to the pool during special hours, upon prior reservation.
Canine residence - If you have to travel and you can not do it with your dog, this tourist complex has a canine residence where your animals will be housed in single rooms with a small private patio and the caregivers will take care of taking them out twice a day for a walk. In addition, the stay includes a swim in the pool and two meals a day for your pet.
No distinction of race - In this resort they take into account the character of the animal, not the breed, since in the end the ultimate responsibility is the owner, and this is the difference with some pet friendly places that do not admit some dog breeds.
